Opera mobile browser now included in Motorola's new line of Razr phones

July 27, 2006

Opera yesterday announced that the Opera Mobile browser is included on the two new phones from Motorola, the MOTORAZR xx and the MOTORAZR maxx.

With the addition of these two Motorola phones, Opera’s mobile browser is now included on six Motorola phones. Opera signed a three-year deal with Motorola to make its mobile phone browser available on all major operating systems supported by Motorola.

Opera will receive royalty payment per mobile phone sold.

Will it show as Opera Mobile or is it skinned as if it were a Motorola built browser?

The press release linked on Eskil’s page from Motorola doesn’t even mention Opera anywhere on the page, I’d bet it skinned as Motorola.

    Hey that’s awesome. Isn’t it Razr ?

Besides, weren’t they last years best sellers.

    That is so cool.

    Alternate Browsers Rock.

In many cases, the carriers dictate how the browser is skinned and what it is called . Opera will likely be mentioned in the About box.

If Motorola also improves the usuability of their mobiles, my next mobile might be a Motorola.

Just an FYI, the opera mobile browser does not currently work on the T-Mobile network. Until they unblock port 80, it will not work. Or until Opera includes an option to change the default port.
