T-Mobile is first to pre-install Opera Mini on Mobile Devices

March 8, 2006

T-Mobile became the first to have Opera Mini pre-installed on its mobile phones.

This version of Opera Mini will be customized to the look and feel of T-Mobile. Opera Mini is included as part of T-Mobile’s Web’n’Walk service, and is available in select European countries including Germany, the UK, Austria, and the Netherlands.

Opera Mini is available as a free download to all users; however, mobile operators have the option of including a customized version of the browser on their mobile devices for a licensing fee.

It’s Britain, not England, in this case.

    Anonymous above,

You’re right, I’ve changed it to the UK. Thanks.

Why they are hiding the fact it uses Opera Mini and instead naming it web’n’walk?

Sweet. Another reason I love T-Mobile.

Noob question: Can Opera Mini be installed/used on a T-Mobile Sidekick?

“Why they are hiding the fact it uses Opera Mini and instead naming it web’n’walk?”

Because Opera offers a branded version of Opera Mini. T-Mobile likely pays Opera to do this. See the Q4 representation on opera.com.

Well, the t-mobile site has a play version that is clearly labelled IE and NOT opera. http://surf.yospace.com/mda/

That is, because the MDA uses the IE for mobiles, while instead all other phones use Opera mobile or Opera mini.
