MCNLive is First Linux-Based Distro to Include Opera 8.5

September 28, 2005

MCNLive, a Mandriva-based live CD, is the first Linux based distro to include the new ad-free Opera 8.5.

Perhaps this is a sign of what’s to come, now that the Opera browser is ad-free.

Gentoo has Opera 8.5 “in portage” since 6 days.
So Gentoo-Users can install it since then.

Probably many sites will promote Opera beside FF, too. Come on!

Great to see more distribution of Opera. Personally, I have been interested in doing similar as well. Just the other day I submitted a request to distribute Opera the other day through my highend computer company I own.
    Waiting response…..

I found your comments to be very interesting. We can never keep up with all that is going on. For example who would have ever thought Apple and Intel would be working together. On another side note, I’m one of the beta testers for a new browser. It can be found here; http://www.idealbrowser.com. The company is looking for others to test it out as well so download it and give them some feedback.

Slightly old news here, but relevant: it looks like SuSE 10 still comes with 8.02 (but only in the retail version).
