Opera 8 for Mac released, finally

June 16, 2005

Opera has released the Mac version of Opera 8 today for the first time.

The Mac version has lagged behind the Windows and Unix/Linux versions due to the need for additional testing.

One of Opera’s lead Mac developers tells Opera Watch “Opera is investing resources in its Mac project by adding more developers and testers”. Hopefully this will result in the release of Mac versions at the same time as the others.

Opera is also planning on moving to Xcode in the next major release.

So I downloaded the 8.01 version. Now both Yahoo and ATT’s Worldnet have more problems than before, particularly with the display of button images in email. And I thought that the newer version was promising better Javascript support, but I see no improvements.
