Opera's progress with the Acid2 test

May 13, 2005

Thanks to Rijk, from Opera QA, we now have a screenshot of the Acid2 smiley face of Opera’s internal build.

Opera has progressed quite impressively in their effort to pass the Acid2 test.

The Acid2 test has been written to help browser vendors make sure their products correctly support features that are part of web standards.

Acid2 tests for features that are part of existing standards but haven’t been supported by major browsers. Acid2 is a complex web page. Though not all web standards are tested, it uses features that are not in common use yet, because of lack of support, and it crams many tests into one page.

Apple’s Safari browser is “purportedly” the only browser to have passed the Acid2 test (in their internal builds).

Nice! Keep going Opera! I’m impatiently waiting to test new betas where new things implemented.

    Before (Opera 7.54)

Opera 8.0 final has the same problem, so it’s “Before (Opera 8.0 final)“. I didn’t test with 8.01 or 8.0.1 beta yet.

I cannot see THIS page correctly because the google ad is on top of the text :(. I guess it’s cause of my “low” resolution 800×600. When I resize window as if I had bigger resolution, it’s ok. The same thing in Firefox, so it’s not Opera’s fault. Probably bad CSS. Could someone fix it? Thanks

Any word from Opera QA about compatibility with Blogger’s posting page yet?

Some Opera rep once told me that the issue is not with Opera but rather with Blogger.

Their javascript code probably doesn’t conform to the standards.
