Super Opera 8.0 – Screenshots

April 8, 2005

Here are some screenshots of Opera’s next browser release, version 8.0.

I got these screenshots from Opera. And interestingly enough, the names of these image files were super8*.jpg, **perhaps** indicating the new browser name will be “Super Opera 8”. Or perhaps Super Opera will be part of their marketing campaign. Notice the picture in the screenshot, he kind of looks like superman.

The look and feel of 8.0 is very similar to the latest beta version, except for a button of “eye glasses” on the top right corner. I don’t know what that is for.

Super Opera 8 Windows
Super Opera 8 BSD
Super Opera 8 gray
Super Opera 8 Linux

    Super Opera – yuck!

The glasses are probably a new icon for the eye we currently have for showing/hiding the extra toolbar.

Why did Opera send you those screenshots anyway?

Wouldn’t it make more sense for it to be called Opera Super8?

    “Super Opera”??? YUCK!!!

  7. April 8, 2005 at 2:39 pm

Perhaps “Super” will just be for their PR campaign, but won’t be the actual name of the browser.

Oh, please, no. A kitschy campaign would be inappropriate for Opera, and would not be well received in North America.

    Yeah.That name sounds so un-cool.

If these are screenshots of the final release, and if it were to be called Super Opera 8 why doesnt the title bar say SuperOpera? It just says Opera so hopefully your wrong.

you may change your browser title in opera6.ini so it’s just another pathetic BS….

Supera or Sopera (soap opera) or Super Opera, or Opera Super – all the names suck.

Opera rocks – no matter what name….

It is most likely the latter assumption. Super Opera will probably be part of their marketing campaign.
